HCL Infosystems, the hardware and system integration company has said that it has bagged a Rs 40-crore order to digitise the data generated from the Census of India project. “HCL Infosystems will collaborate with the Government to digitise the data generated from Census of India project for the year 2010-11. This project will involve digitising the data collected across the country, including maintenance, indexing, scanning and storage at a central repository,” a HCL release said. The project involves processing all data captured as well as images. “Under the scope, HCL Infosystems will digitise the information gathered from approximately 55 crore survey forms and 1.10 crore images. The information will then be stored at a central repository gathered from 15 different project locations across the country,” the release added.
